Avalon Rare Metals Inc. (TSX and NYSE MKT: AVL) is a mineral development company focused on the rare metal deposits in Canada. In March 2014, Avalon entered into a strategic partnership agreement with Solvay: the global leader in rare earth refining. A comprehensive feasibility study was completed in April 2013 and the environmental assessment approved by the Federal government in November 2013. Its flagship project, is exceptional in its large size and enrichment in the scarce 'heavy' rare earth elements, NWT, Thor Lake, the 100%-owned Nechalacho Deposit, key to enabling advances in clean technology and other growing high-tech applications. Nechalacho is now the most advanced potential large new source of heavy rare earths in the world outside of China, currently the source of most of the world's supply.
